8 coins are tossed. Whats is the probability that one and only one turns up head ?
The coin that turns up head can be any of the eight.
Required probability = 8 * (1/28)
why there is 1/2 raise to power 8
it should be 8*(1/2^8)
8 coins so total head(1/2)^8=1/256
only one head coming means..(T,T,T,T,T,T,T,H), (T,T,T,T,T,T,H,T) etc 8 possibility
so probability is 8*(1/256)=1/32
it should be like 1/16 is the probability of getting a head or tail out of 16 faces of 8 coins and 1/2 is the probability of getting head. therefore 1/16*1/2=1/32 is the probability required
Aditya, thanks for the explanation.
